Monitoring of conservation works was undertaken under ministerial consent. Clearance of debris and soil revealed a number of architectural fragments from the current phase of the church as well as from earlier phases. A heavily weathered stone with possible Romanesque decoration was also recovered, as well as a portion of a quernstone. The church is multi-phase with the remains of antae at the east end of the nave. The chancel was added later, and the church was also extended to the west.
