Stage (iii) archaeological excavation was carried out at Drumderry 8 in advance of the N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Development, Co. Sligo. The site was discovered during Stage (i) archaeological testing and was assessed during Stage (ii) Pre-Excavation Services (Registration Number E4627).
One possible charcoal-production pit was uncovered at Drumderry 8 which consisted of a sub-oval pit with some oxidisation evident at the southern edge of the feature. The primary fill consisted mainly of charcoal chunks with occasional silt and medium sized stone. The upper fill consisted of greyish-brown silty sand with frequent charcoal flecks and moderate pebbles.
