Monitoring of groundworks at a development in Carrowhubbuck South townland in Enniscrone, County Sligo, was carried out on 7 November 2016. The development consisted of the construction of a dwelling house and its connection to public utilities. The monitoring, which was a condition of planning permission, was necessary as the site was located inside the constraint for a ringfort (SL016-022) located 20m to the east. An adjacent dwelling, located immediately south-east of the development site, was the subject of pre-development testing by Billy Quinn in 2000, under Licence No. 00E0740. That testing revealed nothing of archaeological significance. The development site was located, off Church Lane in Enniscrone, in the lawn of the adjacent dwelling which was tested in 2000 (00E0740).

The groundworks which took place were the reduction in levels for a raft foundation for the new building and the excavation of a service trench to connect to the public utilities. Below the topsoil in the lawn were natural subsoils and fill associated with the construction of the adjacent dwelling. The topsoil contained modern pottery sherds and modern glass fragments. The service trench was excavated along a stoned access road which contained existing services. Nothing of archaeological significance was in evidence.
