A total of seven linear test trenches comprising 656m were excavated. A number of field drains and modern sherds were encountered. No features, finds or deposits of archaeological significance were found in test trenches T1, T2, T3, T5, T6 and T7, nor within a scan of the topsoil from these trenches. Some linear features were noted in T4, which may be field drains (a very common feature on this site), though due to proximity to the ringfort are considered to be potentially of archaeological significance.
