Following consultation with the National Monuments Service, the extensive vegetation on the small mound (ME020-013—-) to the south-west of Dowth Hall was cut back by hand in February 2016 in order to facilitate a subsequent condition assessment and planning of the mound. Stumps and roots were left in situ to minimise any disturbance to the mound. A second phase of cleaning, targeting leaf litter and scutch grass on the mound, was carried out under licence (16E0420) over a two week period in August 2016. A small number of possible lithic artefacts were found during this process. Following this cleaning process, 6 kerbstones were visible around the mound perimeter.
