Test trenching was carried out at Fennor Townland close to ME019-035 under Ministerial Consent for the Meath Watermain Rehabilitation-Phase 2. Irish Water was proposing to upgrade the pipeline infrastructure throughout the county of Meath. The trenches were positioned where the pipeline was proposed to run along the section of road adjacent to Fennor Castle and the church site and graveyard (ME019-035). The road area directly outside and to the east of the church site was excavated in 1971 (Swan 1972) when human remains were revealed as the present road was being widened. In 2016, Judith Carroll & Company was commissioned to conduct testing associated with the pipeline development. Test trenching took place at Fennor on 28 and 29 June 2016. Three test trenches 10m in length and 1m wide were set out along the east side of the road opposite ME019-035 and excavated. No archaeological finds or features came to light.
