A programme of archaeological monitoring carried out on the Cavan Road, Kells, Co. Meath. The project involved the excavation of a trench across the road for a new gas connection to a proposed school. The nearest recorded monument is the historic town of Kells (SMR ME017-044-) located 380m to the south east. All excavation works were undertaken by a mechanical excavator with a grading bucket. The works consisted of excavation of a trench through undisturbed ground. The trench was up to 1.5m in depth and 0.4m in width. No finds or features of archaeological significance were noted.
