An archaeological assessment, including testing, was carried out in advance of the development of part of the outbuildings associated with Newhaggard mill, a Protected Structure (Meath Co Council RPS 14403604).

Four test trenches were excavated, two along the proposed access road, one to the rear of the existing mill outbuilding, and the fourth in the walled garden to the rear of this building, where it is proposed to locate the percolation area. The trenches were excavated to the subsoil, which generally came up at 0.4–0.5m below the surface.

The test trenches disclosed no material of an archaeological nature.
