A burnt stone spread measuring 4.6m by 3.7m with a depth of 0.24m was identified at Kilbree Lower 2. Excavations confirmed the spread measured 0.24m in maximum thickness and overlay natural marl at the western edge of a peat basin. A possible shallow trough measuring 0.10m in depth was exposed below the spread and measured 1.2m by 1.8m. A number of soil and environmental samples were taken from the site. Radiocarbon analysis of any charcoal present should provide a date range for the use of this site.
