A burnt stone spread, F3, measuring 7m east-west by 6m and 0.25m in height was identified at Drummindoo 3. The spread lay above the marl at the edge of a peaty area. A very shallow sub-circular trough (c. 0.1m in depth) was revealed below the mound. Twelve small stakes (less than 20mm diam.) were identified in the marl around the perimeter of the trough. A number of possible features were present below the mound filled with peat but upon excavation were found to be of natural origin and represented shallow depressions in the underlying natural grey clay. Soil samples were taken from the site. Radiocarbon analysis of any charcoal present should provide a date range for the use of this site. No finds were recovered from the archaeological features.
