A spread of stone and black clay F3 measuring 4.8m by 6.3m and 0.65m in height was identified at Deerpark East 2. The spread overlay peat and was also partly covered by peat. The mound contained relatively modern finds and a significant amount of topsoil within its matrix. A test trench excavated through the mound failed to identify any charcoal and it appears that the mound represented upcast from the nearby railway embankment rather than a burnt mound. Further machine investigation was carried out before the site was backfilled and this revealed that the mound comprised of railway-related clinker-like material with no archaeological features present below.
