A burnt stone spread measuring 6m north-south by 8m was identified at Claggarnagh West 6. The mound appeared to have been significantly disturbed and there was evidence of quarrying from an adjacent hill within the cutting. The excavation involved the removal of the mound which measured 0.1m in maximum thickness. A simple circular earth-cut trough was identified below the centre of the mound. It had a concave base and measured 1.7m in diameter with a maximum depth of 0.3m.

Post-excavation analysis is ongoing for this site and it is hoped to obtain dating evidence from radiocarbon analysis of charcoal samples recovered.
