An area measuring 628m2 was stripped of topsoil around two potential pits and a possible post-hole. Geophysical survey carried out at this site suggested the presence of a sub-circular enclosure but pre-excavation cleaning indicated that a central raised natural area surrounded by deeper topsoil may have produced the anomaly. A radiocarbon date of 2489 to 2293 BC was obtained from the fill of one of the possible post-holes sampled during the earlier testing phase. Despite intensive stripping, cleaning and sectioning, no archaeological features were exposed on the site during the excavation phase and the few possible features represented naturally decayed rock/stone. No archaeological features or deposits were exposed or identified and no finds were recovered.
