The assessment was carried out on 1 – 2 June 2016 when a total of ten test trenches were excavated. It was evident that the field had been used as the site for dumping of materials over many years. A thick layer of brown clay containing plastics, brick, metals etc. was exposed in all of the trenches, below the sod and topsoil, to a maximum thickness of 1.6m above the natural orange sandy clay. No archaeological features were present in this trench and no finds were recovered.
