Monitoring was undertaken in compliance with Condition 3 of the planning grant with regard to the laying of a 18.4km grid-cable connection from the 110kV Substation at Cordal Windfarm to link with the Coolegrean and Scart Windfarms (ITM coordinates between E512966 N612165 and E510135, N602402). Trenching excavations were carried out using 360ยบ tracked excavators equipped with 0.75m width toothed ditching buckets, under archaeological supervision. The entire length of the cable trenching was excavated to the depth of 1.2m or deeper, if required, to the point where natural subsoil was reached. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted during monitoring of the cable trench excavations.
