Testing was undertaken here over a period of 6 days between 18 January and 16 February 2016. The test excavation was carried out on foot of a condition of planning permission granted by Kerry County Council. The proposed development constitutes the construction of a 28 turbine wind farm (Planning Ref. 10/692) and a substation (Planning ref. 12/460). This report relates to the condition associated with the Cordal wind farm only. No recorded archaeological monuments are located on the wind farm site which is largely located within forested upland blanket bog. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were uncovered within the test trenches.
