Preliminary investigations took place within the old Denny Bacon Factory complex at Island of Geese, Tralee which is located within the zone of potential for the medieval town. Five trenches were excavated within open yards in the complex prior to demolition of the superstructures. A sheep bone was recovered from basal, estuarine silts in Trench 1 at the south-eastern end of the complex while a small area of burning was noted in the basal boulder clay in Trench 5 at the north-western extent of the site. All excavated areas were very disturbed and were largely infilled. Further investigations will be carried out on this large urban site following demolition of the extensive factory complex
