Excavation took place of a robbed-out clochán and collapsed gabled shrine at Cill Buaine with a view to confirming identification of the hut site and ascertaining if conservation works on the shrine were possible. Excavation showed the feature to be a denuded clochán and uncovered the building history of the structure. The shrine is in a very poor state of preservation with both side slabs cracked. Minor stabilization works were completed and the interior of the shrine was investigated. The shrine had been emptied at some time in the past and only modern debris was recovered. A full report will be published on completion of analyses.
