Pre-development testing was carried out on the site of a proposed extension to a late-20th-century building at Pigott’s Street, Loughrea. This was formerly the site of St Brendan’s National School, which was demolished in 1992 when the new building was constructed. Three trial trenches were excavated at the site and foundations relating to the demolished primary school were discovered in one trench, to the north of the extant building on the site. The foundations will not be disturbed as a result of the development.
