An archaeological evaluation was undertaken prior to the proposed development of an area of land to the north of the Derrygonnelly Road, Kinarla, Enniskillen.
In total, 24 trenches were fully excavated and a further trench was excavated as a series of 4 test pits due to the depth and instability of the peat. The collective length of these trenches was c.1589m. Each trench measured 2m wide and depths of the trenches varied greatly. Generally, though not in all the trenches, only a single layer of topsoil was removed onto the naturally occurring subsoil which predominately consisted of a blue clay in the wetter areas to the south and east and a light brown or gravelly stony clay on the slopes to the west and north-west.
No archaeological deposits were identified during monitoring
