Monitoring of 16 trial pits was undertaken in advance of the construction of the proposed Enniskillen Bypass. The work was undertaken to inform the final design and layout of the Bypass. The new road will be approx. 2km in length and will traverse both the Erne and Sillies Rivers. It will also pass to the immediate north of Lisgoole Abbey, a 19th-century historic park.
No features or deposits of archaeological significance were encountered during the monitoring exercise.
