Archaeological monitoring was carried out by Brendan Fagan of Courtney Deery Heritage Consultancy Ltd. on behalf of Park Developments Group in relation to a proposed Hampstead Building (Building 90), The Park, Carrickmines, Great and Jamestown, Dublin 18 (Planning Register Reference: DĂșn Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council D15A/0766).
The proposed site lies to the south of DU026-115, the linear earthworks comprising the medieval Pale defences, and it is located to the south-west of Carrickmines Castle (DU026-005).
Monitoring took place from 20 November 2016 and continued intermittently until 2 December. Monitoring revealed made ground of up to 3m deep and the area was totally disturbed. No features, finds or deposits of archaeological interest were identified. No further archaeological monitoring is necessary at this site.
