An assessment was carried out on the site of a proposed residential development at Station Road, Portmarnock, Co. Dublin. The proposed development does not contain any recorded monuments but previous excavations to the south of Station Road have led to the discovery of extensive medieval settlement in the immediate vicinity of the site. Thirteen test trenches (780 linear metres) were opened and closed by a 13t mechanical excavator fitted with a 1.8m wide ditching bucket under archaeological supervision. There were no archaeological features or artefacts recorded in the course of testing.
