The proposed road scheme possesses a length of c. 550m and will cross the Cabinteely Stream as it runs from the existing N11 to the east to Lehaunstown Lane to the west. The western section of the scheme was subject to testing as the eastern section was subject to assessment in 2006.

A total of 342 linear metres of trenches were excavated within the accessible areas of the scheme footprint during October 2016. One feature of archaeological potential was identified in the western part of the scheme. This consists of a possible post-medieval brick kiln, which is a sizable feature and extended to the south of the road take. It appears to be similar in size and form to a brick kiln that was excavated c. 40m to the north of the proposed scheme as part of a residential development in 2003.
