A programme of archaeological testing at a proposed data centre site at Staffordstown Turvey, Swords, Co. Dublin took place between the 10th -11th of March 2016. The greenfield site extends across three pasture fields and is located to the immediate east of the M1 and west of Turvey Business Park. The nearest recorded archaeological monuments comprise RMP DU012-068 and DU012-069 classified as both a barrow and fulacht fiadh respectively. These sites were originally exposed during monitoring on the Airport-Balbriggan Bypass. Twelve trenches were excavated to provide coverage for the new development and to investigate geophysical anomalies identified in an earlier survey. The trenches exposed a number of modern drainage channels across the site and a natural sterile stratigraphy elsewhere. The anomalies can be accounted for by modern disturbance, drains and geology. There was no evidence for any features of archaeological potential.
