A licence was sought to carry out monitoring of enabling works associated with a development at Charlemont Street, Dublin 2. Assessment is required as per planning condition 13 (DCC ref.: 3742/10) and condition 20 (An Bord Pleanála, ref.: Pl29S.238212). Monitoring of ground disturbance was recommended in the EIS Chapter undertaken by IAC Ltd in 2010 (see section 3).
Monitoring of 16 site investigation pits was undertaken in September 2013 under licence 13E0313. No features or artefacts were identified during the course of monitoring that relate to activity that predates the post-medieval period. It was recommended that further monitoring of ground disturbances be carried out at the time of construction (Bailey 2013).
Monitoring works are ongoing. No features or finds of archaeological significance have been identified to date. An updated bulletin will be submitted following completion of works.
