Archaeological monitoring for the remainder of Phase 1 of the development at the Glen Ellan Road (F11A/0436) was carried out in February 2016 and one small isolated pit containing charcoal and a small quantity of burnt bone was excavated. A cereal drying kiln detailed in a previous bulletin (2013:287) was dated to the early part of the Iron Age (Cal BC 402–207). Cereals retrieved from the kiln were dominated by barley which accounted for 40% of the assemblage, followed by wheat (8%), oat (7%) and rye (1%). Indeterminate cereal grains accounted for 38% of the assemblage and a small number of wild taxa species were also identified. Three wood species were identified from the charcoal assemblage which was dominated by cherry (85%), followed by willow (8%) and pomaceous fruitwoods (7%).
