Archaeological monitoring was carried out on behalf of Malincross Ltd in relation to a schools access road at Clogheder townland, c.1.3km west-southwest of Balbriggan, Co. Dublin (Planning Ref. F13A/0398). The development comprised an access/distributor road serving the Colaiste Ghlor na Mara secondary school and the Scoil Chormaic Community National School primary school which were being constructed under a separate application (Planning Ref. F13A/0232).
Monitoring followed an Archaeological, Architectural and Cultural Heritage Appraisal by Margaret Gowen and Co. Ltd (Trehy, 2007) and Geophysical Survey (Harrison, 2007), which were undertaken on behalf of Fingal County Council as part of a Local Area Plan.
Monitoring took place over three days from 16–18 February 2016 and no features, finds or deposits of archaeological interest were identified.
