Monitoring of primary ground reduction works was undertaken during 18 – 19 May 2016, having been commissioned by Fletcher 55 North Property Company Limited, and relates to a Planning Condition under Planning Policy Statement 6: Built Heritage 4 (PPS 6:BH4) for archaeological mitigation associated with the demolition of the existing 3.5-storey buildings at Nos 13 and 14 Kerr Street, Portrush, Co. Antrim, to provide for the re-development of the site comprising 11 No. apartments, off-street parking and walled gardens (Planning Ref: C/2014/0203/F).

Archaeological monitoring works confirmed that the area under investigation had previously undergone significant ground reduction associated with the construction of the buildings which formerly occupied the site with removal of these buildings and their foundations revealing glacial bedrock which had apparently been cut/excavated to facilitate the previous construction works at the site.

No archaeological features, remains or deposits were identified within the area under investigation during archaeological works at the site.
