Testing comprising 129 mechanically excavated test trenches measuring 30m x 2m (TT142-TT154 and A1-A116), 12 geoarchaeological boreholes (BH167, BH170, BH173, BH176, BH179, BH182, BH185, BH188, BH202, BH205, BH208 and BH211) and one area of targeted archaeological watching brief took place. Test trenches TT145 and TT147 were on either side of Site 1 (licence AE/16/136) and contained archaeological remains related to this site. The results of the trenching were consistent with the multi-period prehistoric activity noted at Site 1 (detailed excavation area) and as such will be incorporated within the Site 1 excavation report and uploaded to excavations.ie accordingly. No archaeological remains were encountered in any of the other testing undertaken.
