Test trenching was carried out on this site on foot of a planning application to construct a dwelling house. The aim of the testing was to establish the exact location of a circular enclosure which had been identified by aerial photography in 1989 as a crop mark in a pasture field. The crop mark suggested it was a bi-vallate enclosure. The enclosure was not visible at ground level.

The outer fosse was found in two test trenches—it was 1m wide at the top, 0.15m deep and 0.8m wide at the base. The trajectory of the fosse as revealed in the test trenches, and comparison with the aerial photos, suggest that the enclosure was sub-rectangular in plan rather than circular and was approximately 25–30m east-west in diameter.
