An Bord Pleanala granted permission to EirGrid for the construction of a 110kV overhead line (OHL) from the existing Clashavoon substation, which is located north-east of Macroom, to the existing Dunmanway electricity substation, which is located on the outskirts of Dunmanway.
Monitoring of ground works associated with structure numbers AM (angle mast) 39 to AM 87 was requested by ESB Networks. Monitoring along approximately one-third of the Clashavoon-Dunmanway 110kV overhead line was undertaken in 2016. No work was undertaken in 2014 or 2015. The monitoring was undertaken as a condition of planning permission and all groundworks associated with the construction of the polesets and anglemasts and other associated site works were monitored along this of the line section. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were uncovered.
Monitoring continued in 2017 and 2018.
