The development consists of the construction of a private house and associated site works at Scilly, Kinsale, Co. Cork. A metal detection survey followed by archaeological investigation of any find spots was undertaken to fulfil a condition of planning permission. The survey was undertaken on  21 October under licence from the National Monuments section. The metal detection survey produced a number of hits all of which were 20th-century/modern in date. No finds which may relate to the military occupation/battlefield archaeology were detected during the survey. The finds largely came from debris associated with building collapse relating to the occupation of the site from the 19th century onwards and in more recent times. Although no buildings were located on the site, it was clear that the site had been settled in the past. Natural rock was apparent over much of the site with some pockets of fill (modern rubble debris).
