An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the construction of a Financial Services Campus building on lansd east of Queen’s Road and 175m north of Sydenham Road, Queen’s Island, Belfast. The proposed development will be undertaken in two phases. The phase 1 will consist of enabling works, with the main construction forming phase 2 of the development.
A series of 4 test trenches were excavated using a back acting machine fitted with a combination of toothed and toothless buckets and under strict archaeological supervision. All trenches were excavated to the level of undisturbed sleech.
Nothing of archaeological significance was identified during the evaluation.
