The overall development received planning permission for the construction of 348 dwellings, including landscaping, parking, access and all associated site development works. Test trenching was related to Phase 1 of the proposed development, and this measured 160m north-east/south-west x 55m north-south at the eastern end x 20m north-south at the western end. The excavation of three test trenches failed to reveal any archaeological features or artefacts. On all occasions topsoil and subsoil directly sealed a superficial geological deposit. A modern stone drain of no archaeological significance was recorded in Trenches 2 and 3.
