Testing was carried out at the proposed development site for a new farm dwelling and garage adjacent to 3 Filterbeds Road, Lisburn, County Antrim in August 2016. The BH3 requested examination has shown that the ‘fort’ (as marked on the 1st edition OS map, ANT 063:023) existed in line with the outline from this map. The far west side of the development area (from the outer edge of the ditch west) contains significant archaeological remains, the area to the east of the ditch can be considered archaeologically sterile and should require no further archaeological mitigation.
