Testing was carried out on behalf of MLPCC Development Company Limited in advance of the development of a Primary Care Centre, associated facilities and construction of part of the new Harbour Link road, approximately 700m north-west of the centre of Mullingar Historic Town. Testing was carried out on 30 April and 27 May 2015.
The site is located in both the townlands of Mullingar and Robinstown (Tyrell). The access road to the site is in the townland of Mullingar and the primary care centre is in Robinstown (Tyrell).
The site today is a flattish green field under rough pasture and is accessed from the Longford road. No finds or features of archaeological significance were exposed in any of the trenches excavated.
