Archaeological investigation consisted the monitoring of geotechnical investigations took place at Townparks, Carrick-on-Suir prior to development of a link road and bus-park opposite Saint Brigid’s General Hospital, Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary. 14 geotechnical test pits were excavated on the site.
The trenches were excavated to depths of between 2.2 - 4.1m. Stratigraphy consisted mainly of building debris, domestic refuse and other modern materials.
Modern infilling and reclamation of this riverside area was indicated within the trenches. No features or materials of archaeological significance were identified during this phase of works.
