The site is located in Coolquill, Co. Tipperary, c. 12km north-east of Fethard. The Deer Park (TS054-071) is enclosed by a dry stone wall. It has been planted with a coniferous plantation, accessed from the south-west (adjacent to tower house TS054-053) with further coniferous forest to the north-east. A motte site (TS054-054) is located at the centre of the deer park. A forest road was required for access through the deer park. Following consultation with DAHG and the Forest Service, a survey of the enclosing wall was undertaken to identify where the wall was least well preserved. The forest road was then designed, incorporating ramps where it crossed the deer park wall, preserving the wall in-situ. Monitoring of road construction was undertaken between June and August 2015. The approved construction methodology was followed. No additional archaeological features were recorded.
