Archaeological resolution involved a c. 30m x 40m excavation area centred on features previously identified in testing (15E0038).
Excavation revealed several pits/spreads which had been uncovered in the south-eastern and middle portion of the excavation indicated by the testing.
A paleochannel was also recorded crossing the site. This was discoloured in the vicinity of the pits, likely due to charcoal leaching from the original upstanding mound. The pits are interpreted as the remains of a burnt mound, traditionally dated to the Bronze Age.
The previously identified famine pot appeared to have been removed prior to excavation. The location of this item is unknown.
