During monitoring of an extension to the primary school at Kilmallock a single pit feature was revealed at the north-eastern end of the site. It was a single irregular shaped sub-oval pit with a single fill. The fill consisted of stiff dark brown clayey silt with occasional inclusions of charcoal flecking and small stones throughout the fill. Large stones were found at the base of the fill. The pit was irregular sub-oval in plan with sharp break of slope, concave sides and a flat base. It had a north-east/south-west orientation and measured 5.3m x 1.38m with a depth of 0.32m. No suitable dating material was found, and due to the lack of artefacts, a date could not be assigned to the feature. The feature lay in the vicinity of the historic town of Kilmallock LI047-022---, and also a megalithic structure LI027-022021- and a ring barrow LI047-102---.
