The assessment at Laghty Barr, Kiltyclogher, County Leitrim was undertaken to ascertain if any archaeological features survive in the area of the proposed access path and car park facility proposed to be constructed to the south of the Seán Mac Diarmada homestead (LE0008-032). This is a National Monument (Ref. 508). The desk-based surveysindicates the area as one of marshy, boggy ground with no recorded monuments in the immediate environs. Testing was undertaken at the site in April 2015. This involved the excavation of three trenches in the area of the proposed car park and access path. The excavations revealed nothing of archaeological significance with the stratigraphy consisting of peat overlying a natural grey silt. The proposed development of a car park and access path will not impact on any archaeological layers or features
