Unlicensed monitoring took place of all ground works associated with the development of a bridge structure to river, access road and ancillary works. Monitoring was carried on behalf of John and Antoinette Dromey in fulfillment of an archaeological condition attached to the grant of permission (planning ref: 15/136) on 21 August 2015. All groundworks associated with the proposed bridge and access road were monitored. The monitoring concluded that the area of development was devoid of archaeological remains. The natural subsoil was exposed in all stripped areas and the only feature exposed was vague traces of oxidized soil. This feature had been compromised by deep ploughing and all that survived was staining on the natural subsoil. It was not possible to determine whether this feature was archaeological due to its ephemeral nature. No further features or deposits were identified and no finds were recovered.
