Monitoring was carried out between 2 and 6 March 2015 prior to the extension of a sandpit at Annagh townland, Coolraine, Co. Laois. The topsoil on a portion of the proposed extension area was stripped by mechanical excavator under supervision in fulfilment of Condition 15 of Planning Reference No. QY05/51 issued by Laois Co. Council.
The site is located adjacent to an enclosure (LA016-012). No features or deposits of an archaeological nature were identified during the monitoring phase of works.
