Pre-development testing was undertaken as part preparation of an Archaeological Impact Assessment with respect to a proposed single residential development within the western garden area of Sallins Lodge. The recently discovered partial remains of a tower-house exist to the west of the site. These are incorporated (for use as stables/outbuildings) into Sallins Lodge, which dates to the late 18th/early 19th centuries, and attached to the south-west wall of the tower-house, A total of seven test trenches of varying lengths and orientations, the locations of which were largely due to the nature of the site, were excavated by machine and nothing of archaeological interest/potential was uncovered.
