An assessment took place on 5 October 2015 of the site of a new building development at Tralee, Institute of Technology, Dromthacker, Tralee, Co. Kerry on behalf of IDA Ireland who propose to build an Innovation Works Building on the campus. The site is located close to KE029-097, KE029-233 and KE029-232.

Seven trenches were excavated in the area of the proposed development, two extending south-west/north-east and five trenches roughly north-west/south-east. The western third of the site had been stripped for previous development and mounds of soil and stone remain stockpiled in this area. The natural marl was evident on the surface and a short test trench (No. 7) confirmed this area to be completely disturbed. In the greenfield part of the development natural grey marl was exposed in all trenches directly below the sod. A substantial burnt mound spread/fulacht fiadh measuring 16m by 17m was identified near the centre of the site in Trenches 2 and 3 directly below the sod. The site is visible as a low grassy mound surviving above the surrounding marshy area. As the proposed car-park will directly impact this site, it is recommended that it be fully excavated prior to development.
