Archaeological monitoring was undertaken between July and September 2015, in relation to a residential development consisting of sixteen townhouses and an apartment block, at Chanel College, Coolock, Dublin 5.
All groundworks associated with the development were archaeologically monitored.
The only identified features comprised relatively modern drains; no features or deposits of archaeological significance were identified.
Finds from the excavated material were all post-medieval or modern in date, largely comprising post-medieval and modern pottery, clay-pipe fragments, fragments of tiles, slates and brick, and one possible gun flint.
The findings were consistent with recent agricultural and institutional use at the site; with drainage features, deposition of domestic refuse, and the burning of domestic or garden refuse.
