A programme of pre-development testing and monitoring of a geotechnical slit-trench excavation was undertaken as part preparation of an Archaeological Impact Assessment with respect to a proposed redevelopment development of Kestrel House, Clanwilliam Place, Dublin 7. The assessment was prepared in compliance with the Grant of Planning for the development. The site is located within the Zone of Archaeological Potential established for Dublin City and the SMR notes that a grave slab (DU018-05) was formerly located approx. 100m to the north-north-east of the development site.

Two test trenches were excavated through a sloping grass margin located on the southern (Clanwilliam Place) side of the site and the excavation of a geotechnical trial pit/slit trench positioned at the south-eastern corner of the existing building was also inspected. Nothing of archaeological interest/potential was uncovered.
