Testing was undertaken as part preparation of an Archaeological Impact Assessment with respect to a proposed residential development surrounding Diswellstown House. There are no archaeological monuments listed, either by RMP or by Development Plans, as being located within the development lands. The closest Recorded Monument to the site is a Holy Well (KD017-010; Diswellstown) located c. 250m from the site. No surface features of archaeological potential were noted in advance of testing.

A total of 51 test trenches, of varying lengths and orientations, were excavated within the boundaries of the site, the locations of which were largely determined by the existing topographical nature of the site and the proposed development layout. No subsurface features of archaeological interest or potential were uncovered.
