Two phases of topsoil removal were monitored at this large residential development site on 16 April and 17 August 2015. This followed on from geophysical survey, pre-development testing and monitoring of the first phase of topsoil removal in 2014. The stripped soil is best described as ploughsoil, a grey/brown clayey/sandy silt mix of topsoil and subsoil resulting from previous deep ploughing at the site. The depth of topsoil strip varied from 0.2-0.4m. Finds included occasional modern pottery sherds (blackware and delph) and glass fragments, white flint nodules and one flint flint flake.
